Marin Creekside
A family with two young daughters lived in an old home that was no longer functional and the decision was made to build a new home. The property’s location close to a creek that floods periodically made for a unique design challenge. FEMA flood requirements dictated that the home be raised above the base flood elevation. We collaborated with flood engineers and engaged in flood flow studies which dictated the number of piers and location of the house. The resultant design is a simple linear plan off of which the bedrooms are situated.

Care was taken in the placing of the home to preserve an old Bay tree and a Heritage Oak. Windows were situated to take advantage of views to the landscape while providing privacy from the neighbors.
